Just a Minute (JAM) is a popular speech competition held every year at school and is designed to test participants' spontaneity, fluency, and clarity of thought. The competition requires contestants to speak on a given topic for one minute without hesitation, repetition or deviation.
Key aspects of JAM:
1) Spontaneity: Participants must think on their feet and speak immediately on the given topic.
2) Time Limit: Speakers have exactly one minute to express their thoughts.
3) Rules: Common rules include no hesitation, no repetition of words (except for grammatical necessity) and staying relevant to the topic.
4) Judging Criteria: Judges typically assess fluency, coherence, vocabulary and adherence to rules.
How does this competition help students?

The competition was held at school on the 24th of September (Std. 10), 25th of September (Std. 9) and on the 26th of September (Std. 8).
The hosts for the 3 days were teachers Ms. Crystal Falcao, Ms. Shirley Leny and Ms. Sofia Lemos along with Br Anish John.
